Hospice for children and young people

Shock, helplessness, powerlessness and despair. When a family member is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, children and their families can experience great distress. Non-profit organisa-tion Kleine Helden (Little Heroes) and its volunteers help by supporting affected children and families from diagnosis to death and throughout the grieving process.

Scholarships for children in care

Broken families, poverty, neglect; physical, mental or sexual abuse; many children in care have had traumatising experiences that lead to emotional difficulties. The Klückskinder scholarship programme helps children who have been in the youth welfare system, and are now in care or foster care, during their time in education. It offers them an opportunity to make a positive start in their professional lives, despite their challenging circumstances and lack of family support.

Kindergarten Violence Prevention

The Abenteuerland nursery in Lauterbach, Hesse, focuses on empowering children for targeted violence prevention. Many children in nurseries today have risk factors for aggressive and vio-lent behaviour, issues that can stem from coping with traumatic experiences, low self-esteem, isolation, integration barriers or cramped living conditions. Knowing how to solve conflicts without resorting to violence is an essential skill for children, which the Abenteuerland nursery wants to teach.
